Computer started freezing when starting some games

Overview: My computer freezes when I try to start up some games (bioshock/cysis) when it didn't used to.

Specs:
Vista Enterprise SP1
Core 2 Duo E6750
2gigs ram
GeForce 8800 GTS
ASUS iP-35E Mobo
500watt powersupply

Trouble all began when I installed new ram, but had a faulty stick. It took me a while to figure out what was wrong, but now I am back where I started (2gigs) and have returned the new ram.

Now I am unable to run some games that previously worked on my system. When I try to run the game my computer freezes soon after double clicking the icon. It locks up while reading the DVD.

Games that work: Oblivion, Sins of a Solar Empire
Games that used to work: Bioshock, Cysis

I had also been attempted to get Spore to work as well. I thought all my issues were from Spore, but now I realize I have a larger issue.

I updated my DirectX 10 and my video card drivers.

Any suggestions? I miss my games...
