Just wondering about my pc performance, help plz!
Hi guys
I want to buy a graphics card but i dont know much about computers, i was wondering what kind of setting i would be able to play crysis on. I have vista Intel Core Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz 2GB ram and im going to buy a new graphics card, probably something along the lines of Geforce 9800GT, or ATI Radeon HD 4850 Help would be appreciated, if the outcome isnt too good, give it to me gently lol thanks :) |

Re: Just wondering about my pc performance, help plz!
You will need a PSU with a minimum of 26 amps on the +12V line to power a PCIE graphics card, something around the 600-700W region from a good quality manufacturer like Seasonic, Corsair, OCZ, Thermaltake, PC Power & Cooling, etc. Don't go for a cheap, generic one or your components will have a much shorter lifespan.
Would the HD4870 be out of your price range? It's much better than the 9800 or 4850 and will allow you play to play games like Crysis on maximum settings with good framerates.

Re: Just wondering about my pc performance, help plz!
Cool, thanks for your detailed response but unfortuntley yes, that graphics card is out of my price range, so far the 9800 IS my price range, but i can stretch to a 4850, im not really looking for ultimate gaming, im not a hardcore gamer, i would just like to be able to play crysis on very high, or near enough graphics with more or less smooth gameplay.
thanks :) |

Re: Just wondering about my pc performance, help plz!
Well, I can play Crysis at very close to maximum settings with an 8800GT so anything above that will have no problems at all. Everything is very high or maximum except anti-aliasing which is on x2. Very clear image, good framerates and no lag.
