Re: 8400GS for gaming? [moved to new thread]
Hi there.
The 8400GS is a pretty low end card which I think nVidia brought out for Vista. I run the same card with a Q6600 (Quad Core 2.4 ghZ) and 3 gig's of RAM and I have lag running 'Test Drive Unlimited' on it's highest settings. It's not the most demanding game and it's somewhat old. Best thing to do it try the demo of the game before going off any buying it. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest might also help.

And what game are we talking about here.
The 8400GS like Sparrow said is the low-End of the 8-Series. Also most modern games today require a Dual Core to run as expected.

Re: 8400GS for gaming? [moved to new thread]
Actually, I think the 8300GS is the lowest. This is what I have in my Dell Inspiron 530 (WinXP SP2) Core 2 Duo 2.2ghz.....and it will run a bunch of new games. Don't have the money right now to upgrade to a "gaming card" to try any "high Tech" ones yet. but it will do with the ones I wanted to play for now. (so many games and not enough time!)
You can try the "Can You Run iT?" website to see which ones you are interested in might run. Before downloading a huge Demo. Sheesh, a good number of these were full game sizes just a short time ago! |

i tried www.canyourunit.com and checked..8400 Gs can run COD 4 modern warfare in full recommended specifications..and also saw some youtube videos too..found that crysis lags in high settings..but in low resolutions it runs ok..8400 is jst for other than gaming i gues..i am upgrading to 8800GT...will it be good for playing crysis and farcry 2?..
and i have 460 watt atx power supply..can it hold that card..? or i will have to increase my psu..? I have got D101 GGC board..does it support 8800GT? |
