Hi guys, first time using this, so bear with me.
So, I've just installed the game, started playing, noticed it was fairly slow, but I shrugged that off due to the fact I thought it may still be loading..
took a few steps outside, noticed the sky was yellow, and the lag had become VERY VERY bad, unbearable..
So I did some digging, got myself the latest versions of my drivers (I think), rechecked the game, sky is back to normal.

The lag is still persistantly bad.. I physically cannot play with the amount of lag i'm getting.

Whats the cause of this? is my graphics card out of date? If it turns out I need a new one, can someone please tell me what kind, as i'm not the most up to speed with computer components.

Any hints? thanks in advance

Re: STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl help

Your graphics card is low-end for that type of game. But to upgrade it, you'll want to make sure you have power to run it under the stress present from the game. In other words the graphics card may say it needs 400w or 500w to run, but you'll likely need more than that. Personally I'd get an 8800GT for a few reasons. Before I continue though, please post your power supply information too - wattage output information especially.

Thanks.

Re: STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl help

Thanks for you help so far, I may seem fairly stupid here, but how would I go about finding out my power output? Is that just the power supplied from the plug socket?
If anyone can tell me where to find this info out, i'll post it asap.

Re: STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl help

If you can get the computer's side panel open (usually finger screws and/or finger-pressure mount that will disengage by sliding the side panel to the back of the case) you should be able to read the make/model and output wattage from the sticky on the power supply. If you're not confident about doing this and are confident this is the same power supply that came with the computer then you can simply give us the make/model of the machine you're using (Gateway GT1234, HP Pavilion AB12345, etc...) From there the power supply can be determined.

Once the power supply is determined then someone here (possibly me) will be able to offer suggestions.
