[SOLVED] Problems Opening The Sims2 Double Deluxe game.

I just bought a new PC game The Sims2 Double Deluxe game for my daughter and I can not get it to open and install.
I put iy in D drive and it would not autorun so I went to start then "Run" and when I entered "D:\Autorun" a message would say "insert desk into d drive". I did this several times and nothing.
I even went into "My Computer" and tried it that way too and still nothing.
I closed all Open running things in task manager except for the things it said to keep and snoozed my anti virus like it said and it still would not work.
I have The Sims and the Sims makin magic already installed on my computer. Do these need to be removed for the Sims2 to work?
I checked my D drive and it will play CD and open other games but not this one.
What am I doing wrong? Can someone Please tell me what I need to do?:4-

Hi, welcome to TSF.

Can you computer pick up the disk? i.e. Does it show up in my computer?

First, thank you for your reply.

A "CD" disk will flast for a few seconds on my computer and I show a green light on my tower where the driver is but then it will go out and nothing will happen.
The same thing happens when I try to open it in "My Computer".

Is it possible for you to try the disk on a different computer?

Ok,, Your not going to believe this but for some reason the DVD part of my driver that is showing as "Working" is not. I had an "IT" tech. check my computer and we both were going nuts trying to find out why this was happening. We even went as far as trying to see if there were any updates that was needed.
All test showed it working but when we put in a new DVD burner it worked.
