Yet Another Oblivion Issue

I can't even get it to load up.
My specs are... Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.66ghz
NVidia GeForce 8800 GT SLI
4gb DDR2ram
If there's any other bits you want to know, or if you just want a DXDiag, let me know.
Anyway, Oblivion used to run fine-ish. Yeah, the odd crash here and there, some areas that were best not to enter, etc. Nothing major. Then I hook my computer up to a wireless network. I go back to play Oblivion, I don't even get as far as the Betheseda logo movie. It just 'encounters a problem'. I posted this on Betheseda's forum but after turning off several start-up programs, which has caused quite a bit of trouble on my pc, and going down a couple of complete dead-ends, they've stopped helping me.
Now, I'm pretty sure it's got to be something that I've put onto my computer since getting it all internetted up, I just don't know what. Any ideas people?
I should probably point out that I'm running Vista 64 bit with service pack 1.

First, did you install any patches to see if this cleared up the problem?

If you did not have any problems with the game before "internetting" your computer, then focus on remembering what you did do to figure out what might be the "culprit".

You may want to check this Planet Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Technical Support/Problems forum and their "stickies" too.

If the Bethesda forums are unable to help, you might find someone to help you through this one and/or another Elder Scrolls forums websites.

Re: Yet Another Oblivion Issue

Haven't tried any patches yet. Kinda figured I would get the basic game to run before patching it but that might be the key, we'll see.
Primarily, I think I'll take your advice and work through what's been added to my PC since going online.
And thanks for the link, I'll see if anyone there has anything to add.
