So, I've read on alot of other forums that 6600gt's and lower can atleast get 60fps on CS:S.
But My 7600GS just stays at 30fps, even if I change the quality to low. I've disabled V-Sync and basically tried alot of things. I know my Rig isn't Amazing, but I thought I'd be able to play CS:S A lot better. Even my laptop with a Radeon X200 could play it better on all low settings. Graphics Card: Inno3d Geforce 7600GS 512mb AGP Processor: Intel P4 2.00GHz RAM: 1.25 GB Sound: Onboard PSU: 500W +12A 27A Mobo: P4i65G Asrock Please help, the game is playable but I expected better. Don't recommend me any different parts since I already know what to buy. |

Re: Counter Strike Source :<
The Source engine is cpu demanding and needless to say the P4 2ghz isnt too good anymore, a 2.4ghz is just the recommended for css also to add you are using onboard audio which adds more pressure on the cpu itself
you could i guess try changing the resolution to something lower and making sure there isnt too many background programs running, i guess you also could buy a cheap pci audio card that would take some strain off the cpu |

Re: Counter Strike Source :<
I can Play Half Life 2, A Mod called SMOD Tactical which is alot more demanding than HL2 Seamlessly. I Play Quake 4, Call of Duty 2 perfectly at 40 - 60fps.
And if You read my post properly you wouldn't have recommended any parts since I know what I should buy. And I also Said I changed the quality all low, which is resolution too, and still no increase or even decrease in performance. So Something is up. Its constantly at 30fps. |

Re: Counter Strike Source :<
:P I knew about the Sound Card thing. I make Music and The latency gets really high without a soundcard :P
I do have hl2 deathmatch and I updated drivers last night, to 91.47. Its smoother but is still at 30fps. I does go to 50 sometimes, and the average is 42. Sorry to offend you if I did :P |

Re: Counter Strike Source :<
How about your PSU, if i remember correctly the 7600 has a molex on the back of the card are you sure thats fitted securely? my old 7600 has alot of problems but then again my old pc was utter junk lol are you getting any messages about the card not getting enough power, or have you ever got messages like that?
Check your temps also use coretemp and hwmonitor they give out the best results i find (speedfan seems to give minus results for me) http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php if you want you can run say core temp while counter strike is then press the windows key and see how hot the temps are while the game is still active and screenshot it and post here if you want other than that on counterstrike you can right click go to properties click on launch options and enter the command -dxlevel 80 and see how that goes also in the options in counterstriker click on audio and reduce the quality to medium see how that goes, post back if you need to |

Re: Counter Strike Source :<
I use ATI Tool to monitor temps, I overclocked the card, but I've reset it to default since theres wasnt much of a performance increase. The temperatures were at 50 - 60 In-Game.
The molex connector is plugged in. I'll try out everything you've suggested :P @ Alcorr I've seen that before, but I'm a person who likes to balance out good graphics and performance :P I might try it. |

Re: Counter Strike Source :<
I've also just Overclocked my CPU, from 2GHz to 2.2 which was very stable, no problems at all, so I've pushed it to 2.4 and its still working as it should :)
In the Video Stress test my average fps is 60, from 42 which is great :D Thanks for your help! |
