Need to upgrade laptop
I have a an ati x1800 mobility 256mb I believe.
1 gig of ram. and 2.33ghz core 2 duo overclocked 2.66 Is it hard to upgrade a computer? Would adding another gig of ram work? My problem is I can only play games on grafix on low otherwise it lags Like a ***** I upgraded my stuff and attempted to tweak performance settings but no good. Would upgrading to 2 or 4 gigs of ram allow me to play most games with grafixx on high with no problem or is it my video game card? It's not that old. |

Re: Need to upgrade laptop
exactly what make and model of the laptop. You can go to crucial.com and run their scan or just search for your laptop yourself and see how much ram your laptop will hold.
Normally all you can upgrade in a laptop is ram and harddrive. IMO, based on what you said, if you want to run all of your games on high resolution, then you need a new laptop.

Re: Need to upgrade laptop
Okay my computer has a ati x1800 mobility 256mb which seems to be the recommended and plus? For most of my games. I only have a puny 1 gig of ram and I think that might do it specially since I am running vista. My processor is not the problem (i don't think) I went to the site you gave me and it says I need DDR2 memory with support for DDR2 PC2-5300 speeds. I also have 2 slots. Should I get a 4 gig stick or 2 2 gigs? Will it be okay if I put in 1 4 gig with my 1 gig? Just incase I upgrade my OS to 64 bit?

You could try overclocking your graphics card, however read up on it because it comes with risks If you want a better slice of pie tho your going to need a laptop with a 9 series nvidia card, which i find run best.
