Oblivion graphics settings.

I had some trouble with my computer a few months ago (My brother dropped my computer, Broke the graphics card) And I reinstalled Oblivion, And now I can't change the graphics level. I used to be able to set it to ultra high or whatever but now the option isn't there. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Re: Oblivion graphics settings.

What are your system specs?

Also did you switch from say an ati card to nvidia and if you did, did you clean off the drivers and install the latest from nvidia's website?

Re: Oblivion graphics settings.

Im sorry to say but there is no way a 8500 is going to run oblivion on high, medium is more what you should be looking at

Also how did your other card "break"

Re: Oblivion graphics settings.

My other card broke because my brother insisted on moving my computer, Dropped it on the ground, and the card got cracked.

Also, I was originally running it on max..

Re: Oblivion graphics settings.

what was the card origanally?

And the only other spec was your power supply brand and watts but that would not result in not being able to change settings

have you tried all of these !---IMPORTANT: Please Follow These Steps Before Posting---!

Re: Oblivion graphics settings.

Don't keep us in suspense. What was the other card? lol. Also you still have to uninstall the nvidia drivers and then reinstall new ones from the nvidia website.

Re: Oblivion graphics settings.

a 6400 would be running everything on low spec to very low. I used to use a 7600gt 256mb and it would only do mid to high. now i got a 8800gts it runs fine on high

Re: Oblivion graphics settings.

8500 is low spec/budget card. It compares to the 6600... I'm runing 2x 7900GS's in SLI mode, and I can put everything on high IF, and only IF I turn the grass distance to half or less... I tend to play with grass distance turned off though, i don't like to watch things appear, I like to see them from afar... (res of 1440x900)

The only way you could run oblivion on high with a 6400 is if your resoution was set at something like 640x480, and even then I think you'd struggle... Maybe you used to run on ULTRA LOW???

One 7900 on it's own far surpasses most of the 8xxx series cards, until you get to 8800 range... which is probably what I'll be upgrading to when these two start to struggle...
