FFXI Stuttering Issue

There is a topic already created here and marked as [SOLVED], but I don't see any solution at all in the topic.

Google has failed me. The search function of this forum has failed me. So I ask for your help.

My computer was running FFXI fine for a whole month. I can't think of any changes to my system hardware or new software. I have reinstalled ATi Catalyst drivers, monitored CPU and Memory usage levels, all are normal. Now I get a stutter in graphics every few seconds for about half a second, then returns to normal. According to my Windower FPS meter, I am holding strong at 29.9 FPS, it does not waiver. I have no idea what happened to my system that made this start happening but it is very nerve wrecking.

That was very rude, I strongly suggest not calling the guides we work hard to make 'retarded' should you risk getting banned.

Re: FFXI Stuttering Issue

I've been having a similar issue, unfortunately.

This is actually the SECOND time I've had this graphical stuttering issue, I managed to resolve it years ago by disabling the QoS packet scheduler in the network adapter settings when I was running Vista, but I've since upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit and am having the same issue all over again.

This time around I've flat out uninstalled the QoS packet scheduler, I've updated network adapter and graphics drivers, and disabled every HID except my mouse and keyboard. And it still hasn't fixed the problems. 5NIPER_WOLF, I've followed both your links and done everything contained within them, also to no avail. It's not an issue of the computer overheating, and I know it's not the hardware since I've run the game on this exact same hardware set.

Any suggestions?

Re: FFXI Stuttering Issue

I have managed to fix this problem finally on my computer by plugging directly into my wireless router, which means the problem is network related. I use a Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster(WUSB54GSC). Now, I'm not sure if the problem stems from the fact that the adapter is USB based, or that the SpeedBooster is acting as a QoS Packet Scheduler and preventing a clean connection, but Linksys and Squeenix both have offered no solutions, which leaves me with the option of running a ridiculous amount of ethernet cable through my house, or replacing a network adapter I payed $70 for, neither of which excite me.
