[SOLVED] Black patches in the ground appearing in Far cry?
Hi, i have a 1.7ghz 768ram and geforce 6600, and there are black patches appearing in the ground and the grass is sometimes turning black. I can't play because i can't see my enemies. Why? I have tried playing on high and super high, the same.

Re: Black patches in the ground appearing in Far cry?
Sounds like a graphics display texture/rendering problem. Although a GeForce 6600 "should" handle it. So High and Super High settings would not fix this. Because the higher your Texture Quality settings, the greater the amount of memory and graphics card power used (although your 768 RAM is more than what is called for)
TweakGuides.com has several pages of tweaking guides for Far Cry that may help you. This quote is from page 11: Quote:
But saying this, check to see if there were any game patches that could help too. |

Re: Black patches in the ground appearing in Far cry?
Not having the game myself, I went looking around. It seems some players with a Nvidia 6600/6600 GT card also have this problem. Here are some suggestions I found from the game's Official forums at UbiSoft:
Try lowering your graphics settings to medium or low to see it this helps. (Yeah, I know...why do this and miss all the "eye candy", but you might be able to "see" your enemies now.) Try lowering the "Lighting" option to low The person who suggested this option said: this kept him from getting anymore "horrible graphical tearing when in outside environments." All his other settings were left on "high/Very High". After searching through the "UbiSoft Technical Community Help forums" other players who followed this advice, had no more problems. Patches UbiSoft "Far Cry" Patches Download website has all the latest patches for the game. The UbiSoft site details what is fixed with each patch. Be sure to patch in numerical order if needed (for example: 1.3, 1.31, 1.32). From what I have read, Patch 1.3 is for Single Player problems is really all you may need. Here is a clearer list from a UbiSoft "Far Cry" Technical Community Help subject thread. Quote:
Hope this helps you. |

Re: Black patches in the ground appearing in Far cry?
Hey thanks laurie, but now, i have everything set on ultra, the highest possible and i can see my enemies faces fine. The black patches are appearing less frequently now. I'm satisfied with this, since i have problems with cod4 crashing during the training mission. Makes me go stuck mad. Thanks anyways
