Sims 2 will not even install!!!! >_<

Hey,

I'm having trouble installing the Sims2 on my pc.. Everytime i try and run the auto run.. it comes up with 'Electronic Arts AutoRun has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.' I read on a post somewhere that they dragged it from the CD to their desktop and installed it there.. but i had no luck... same error..

As far as i know i reach the requirements for installing The Sims 2 as I have had the game installed on my pc before, which is why i cant understand why it wont install now.. And it installs on my cousins laptop without any problems
