I am about to buy a new laptop in the U.K. A friend said I should try and get an XP installed machine rather than a Vista installed. The reason he gave was that XP games won't run on Vista and I will have to replace all my games. Is there any truth in this?

Re: Vista or XP for games?
Hi, welcome to TSF.
You will have issues with some, not all, XP games. If it is possible to get it with XP instead of Vista, I reckon you should. Did you have particular games in mind? If so, could you tell us what they are and the specs of the laptop.

Re: Vista or XP for games?
the best windows for running games or software for that matter is windows xp as it is designed with software compatibility in mind. unlike vista.

Re: Vista or XP for games?
Thanks for the advice guys, I will try to get an XP machine but they are getting hard to find in retail outlets. The type of game I am into is Total War series, Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto.
