Long Load Times IN ALL GAMES !

Recently i have been getting long load times in all my games especialy with COD4 and STALKER, COD4 the video in the loading screens goes slow and the sound laggs behind it, STALKER just takes around 6-8 minuits to load the game, i have tried uninstalling anything im not using to free space and i tried to stop programs i dont need from running (although im not sure if it worked) all i have left is to try a defrag which will take years, the computer worked perfectly befor a lan party where all that was done was copying of films and LAN play nothing to realy screw the computer as all the copied material was clean from viruses, any help as with Clear Sky looming i want to fix it so i can play.

What size is your hard drive and how much free space is left? Windows needs at least 15% free space to run efficiently. If you have less than 15%, some system processes like defrag won't work.

Run defrag a couple of times if you haven't run it for a few weeks, rebooting after each one.

Do you have the latest chipset drivers, device drivers and DirectX installed?

Go to Start > Run > dxdiag > Display tab and run the 2 tests. Any problems listed in the Notes box?

I have about 68.5 GB of free space, i have the latest drivers, il try doing a defrag.

did the test no porblems found.

Now i am also getting lagg in sound such as music players, video players, music on games, and playing music whilst on games, also mane programs take years to load, especialy steam games.

have you checked your temperatures?also have you scanned for viruses,and spyware?

Yes several times with several programs, i have checked my temp's and everything appears normal there.

Download and run the diagnostics utility from your hard drive manufacturer's website to find any errors. If you use Advanced Mode, it will try to fix any errors it finds.

Its called an ST3360832AS (360 GB) but no manufacturers name ?

That's a Seagate Barracuda, so you need Seatools for Windows. Instructions here.

My computer is not significantly worse, day by day its gettign worse i now cant play DVD's without them lagging out and the visual warping, it looks like im going to have to wipe my entire computer and start fresh.
