HELP! black screen but music!

OMG this is so frustrating! First I will tell you I know sweet fa about computers (as you will realise if you read on) I'm using a compaq evo n6000c n thats about all I can tell you lol

Anyway my problem is that I recently downloaded a new game onto my laptop, and when I try to play it my screen goes completely black apart from the cursor and I can hear the game music, I have tried Microsofts troubleshooting and no luck there, the game is "Womens murder club; death in scarlet" hidden object game, i have other similar game ie.mcf: hunstville etc. and they still work ok, i'm so confused and frustrated, any help would be much appreciated, Thanx for your time

hey,
click on START button, and click on RUN...
Type DXDIAG and hit Enter...
On the Display tab you will see what graphic card you have...
Report back please...

When you use the term "Download" do you mean you installed it off of a CD/DVD or downloaded it from the internet.
