Shivering Isles Update Problem

Recently I heard of that one Shivering Isles bug that occures between 50-150 hours of gameplay and I realized I didn't install it but I had mods on my computer for Oblivion+Shivering Isles.
So I did a complete uninstallation then reinstallation.
I began updating Oblivion, then when I got to Shivering Isles it occured an error when it tried updating the Readme file.
It says, in the error, "Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match." Now, this is BEFORE I installed any mods whatsoever. I 'know' it's the readme because I moved it and tried updating it again it just said the file wasn't found and it aborted.
Anyone know why this is happening?
I have minimum system requirements, 5200 GeForce and a Pentium Dimension 5600 with 2.8 GHz and 1.5GB of RAM.

Re: Shivering Isles Update Problem

Hi TheOverWhelming and welcome to TSF,

This error can also appear if you have downloaded a patch that was meant for a different language. Even if you downloaded the USA patch for the UK version or Visa Versa..

Re: Shivering Isles Update Problem

I've seen this problem before... but I can't quite remember what caused it. I know that what Aus_Karlos said is one of the causes.

But when you install Oblivion, don't update it to 1.2... just install SI as soon as it's done, and then update SI. The SI 1.2 patch, should update both Oblivion and SI to the latest version.

Re: Shivering Isles Update Problem

Thanks Aus_Karlos.
And I have the English version of Oblivion and the update pack.

I'll try doing that Dave-Mastor, but when I uninstall could my Mods be deleted? I rather not redownload so many of my Mods, including Music. Should I just disable Mods VIA OMM then move my Data folder then overwrite it when I reinstall it?
Edit: I mean, should I move everything in my data folder to a backup EXCEPT the .bsa for Shiveringisles/Oblivion?

Re: Shivering Isles Update Problem

Whenever I download mods, I always keep the files in s separate folder. So I don't need to spend a long time re-downloading all of them.

You could try backing them up, then dragging them over after you're done reinstalling, but I've never tried that myself.

Re: Shivering Isles Update Problem

Alright, I used to have a backup of my downloaded mods but my dad would get pissed off because of Oblivion's size. Anyways, I'll test this out.

Re: Shivering Isles Update Problem

Just back up the mods you have in the Oblivion Data folder.
Ive supplied a screen. The stuff ive highlighted is what oblivion installs. All the rest is your Mods.
Just copy them somewhere else and then un-install Oblivion.
