EA download problem
Hello all, before i start id like to let you know that i dont know all that much about computers
![]() Any way i bought battlefield 2142 off the EA website and have follow all the instructions on how to download it, i've installed EA download manager which they said to do, and the damn game just wont start downloading. The button to start the download is greyed out (it should be green). Any ideas as to why this wont start downloading? I have spoke to a few people and they have said turn off ur firewall still nothing, turn AVG off still nothing, and a few more other little things and still NOTHING. I have emailed EA twice and still nothing. (hope im not using the phrase "still nothing" too much ). Any ideas or help you could offer would be much appreaciated, ill upload a screenshot. Thanks |

Re: EA download problem
Hi antic, I definitely feel your pain...
A while back, my friend gave me a bunch of games he didn't play anymore, one of which was Need For Speed ProStreet (also an EA game). After installing the retail-packaged, completely original game on my machine, I attempted to play it for the first time and got an error message asking me to insert the original disk. I humored it, and was in contact with EA support over a few days. Nothing helpful there - the rep's responses were completely canned, and did nothing to solve my problem. Clearly EA is too busy punishing its paying customers to actually go after piracy, because in the end I just downloaded a no-cd. Not that it made much of a difference - the game was of such low quality that I stopped playing it after just an hour or so. I think EA has stopped trying. I think I am going to start short selling their stock in advance of the downfall that will inevitably result from their absurdly crappy product quality and business model. That said, maybe this downloader for some reason requires a port on your computer to be open in order to work. I would try putting your computer into a DMZ on your router temporarily to see if it works. Not that this would make much sense for a downloader, but it wouldn't surprise me in light of the rootkits that EA games have had in the past...

Re: EA download problem
Thanks for the reply fox, i will speak with some of my friends about that DMZ thing, i also thought i was somthing to do with ports.
The most anoying thing is my friend DLed it yesterday and downloaded fine for him, he didnt even have to click start for it to strat downloading. Thanks again, any 1 eles with any idea?? EA sucks the root TBH, ruin any game they get their hands on and then cant even allow a simple DL. |
