[SOLVED] Anyone ever heard of this?
Before I post system specs and all that I will just ask if anyone has ever heard of this before.
I am loaning my 2nd pc to a friend while he builds a new one. He plays WoW so he installed it on the pc. D/L the patches and all and restarted. It froze every time so he brought it back to me. I did a system restore thinking maybe I had installed something( i dont use that comp often). So after the restore WoW was not installed, worked fine. I reinstalled it, freeze on startup. Remove it, runs fine. Now my question is, how does a game cause a startup issue? The game shouldn't have anything to do with startup as far as I know. So anyone ever heard of this??? Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Anyone ever heard of this?
When it is on he windows load screen. The black screen with Windows XP and the progress bar under it. When my pc loads normally that screen shows up for about 4 seconds. When WoW is installed it freezes there every time.

Re: Anyone ever heard of this?
It might help to pinpoint the problem if you add /sos in your boot.ini file - this will make the progress bar etc go away and show the files being loaded etc instead.
Boot.ini is located on your windows-drive, probably C:\. its hidden system file so you have to make them visible first. Then add "/sos" without the quotes to the end of the line similar to this one: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" |
