Hello. I am buying a computer for $610.00 with vista. Specs-
Intel® Boxed Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 ATi Radeon HD 3650 1GB GDDR2 PCIe 2.0 Graphics Card Barracuda 250GB 7,200RPM IDE ATA/100 Hard Drive OEM 12x Double Layer 20x DVD±RW Burner Select 2GB PC-6400 DDR2 CL5 Memory Kit (Two 1GB DDR2-800 Memory Modules) GA-EP35-DS3L Motherboard 450 Watt ATX 12V Power Supply I have heard that vista was a huge memory hog (Not much of an idea why as many forums are controversial about it) but dispite that, im going to get the 32-bit home version. But on to the questions- 1.I play games such as World of warcraft, Everquest 2, Battlefield 2, Crysis, and also 2 old games.. starcraft and warcraft 3. Does Vista have any known problems with any of these games? 2.What are the reasons that vista is a complete memory hog? I have heard that its going to eat up half of my memory Always. 3.Are these parts good for a gaming vista comp? or should i go higher in what I am purchasing? I know its alot to ask but im hoping someone has some time on there hands to go over these question with me. |

Re: Getting new comp with vista. Need questions answered
1.) There wouldnt be any problems with Crysis, beacause Crysis was designed for Vista. Vista dos'nt have any problems with with those games you listed, as far as I know.
2.) Beacause of Aero, it eats up at least 512 mb of ram. 3.) I think it's pretty good, considering that the hardware you bought can run Crysis. All these answers are based on what I know only. Some of them could be wrong.

Aero is a program that makes your windows look pretty. You could turn it off, you know, but I dont know how yet.

Re: Getting new comp with vista. Need questions answered
You could try setting your theme to Windows Classic, that would turn off Aero.

Yeah you can turn of AERO but Ive had it running on VISTA ultimate with 2GB and still managed to play most of the games you listed there with no probs.

Re: Getting new comp with vista. Need questions answered
Oh BTW, the aero interface automatically switches off whilst your in a game anyway so it frees up resources. You can see it switching back on when you exit the game
