Graphics missing/black shapes
I'm running CrossFire 3870s, my drivers are up to date and haven't been modified since I encountered this problem.
It started with certain resolutions not working properly on The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay when I installed it earlier. Only like, the bottom quarter of the screen would work and the rest would stay black. I finally fixed it by changing resolutions on the game, eventually finding one that worked. My default resolution (1920x1200) was one that wasn't working. So, I fixed that problem and all was fine, but I noticed when I went to goof around with that new (rather boring) politics game, The Political Machine 2008, that the bobbleheads were just black shapes instead of, well, 3D bobbleheads. (The Bobbleheads are like, character models in any other game I guess) I didn't care cause I don't really like the game anyways, but now F.E.A.R is almost entirely black except for some kinda glow on the ground, which is brown, and the UI is visible. So is the part of my gun showing how much ammo I have left. On the other hand, Warcraft 3 and Civilization 4 both work perfectly fine, nothing has changed. Is it possible that Riddick changed some option on my computer/in my registry or something that messed up some type of video support? |

Re: Graphics missing/black shapes
I also just tested the Spore Creature Creator, which now launches then immediately closes, and The Witcher, which has text (like on menus) but no graphics at all.
Portal is extremely bright, and the loading screens appear super fuzzy compared to how they used to. The background menu screen on Civ4 is also fuzzy like this. |

Re: Graphics missing/black shapes
I can't seem to find an edit function for my previous posts, but I thought I'd add on that I (obviously) tried uninstalling Riddick to no avail, and when I tried a system restore to before I installed Riddick, before there was any problems, Riddick appears to remain on my PC and be partially installed but not working or something, and the problem remains as well.
It seems like textures are either distorted or missing only in these select games. |

Re: Graphics missing/black shapes
I'm experiencing the same exact problem with The Witcher. I'm running 4870s. I updated to the ATI drivers released 2 days ago and still no joy. random textures are either black, or completely missing. I've tried reinstalling the software, patching the software, as well as rolling back to older drivers for the cards. Nothing works.
