Confused call of duty 4 multiplayer

Hi,
Ive been trying for ages to get cod4 working on my computer, tryed alot but no luck, any help would be apprietiated.
When I try loading the multiplayer menu, the furthest it will get is flash up the menu, but then show a blue screen and restart computer. The screen shows a code Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_Equal. And is listed as a stop error.

My computer stats are:
Intel pentium 4 processors 3.0Ghz
1GB RAM
NVidia Geforce 8600GTS 256mb GDDR3
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-946GMX-S2
PSU [unknown]
Sound Card [unknown but there]
Wireless 502.11g broadband internet
200GB HDD [plenty of space]
DVD Drive and DVD RW Drive

Ive tried updating all drivers and directX, downloading patches up to 1.6, downloading updates for punkbuster, improving cooling, disabling firewall and security, using ethernetrather than wireless connection, running windows mem test and moving/cleaning cards, disabling alot of background tasks/hardware, defragmenting, reffering to error log running registery mechanic [400-600 errors, cant solve without purchase] and more things than I can remember.

As well as the game I had also installed a game controller and new graphics card. Although there is alot of other things I have downloaded onto this computerwhich havent come with any viruses ect.

Ive tried to understand the error message using forums and internet sites but no luck.

Any help would be most apprietiated. Thank You

Re: call of duty 4 multiplayer

This problem only occurs during multiplayer menu, singleplayer works fine.
I know its not a problem with disk as it works in both modes on another computer.
