Bf2 constantly closes without an error
I can play bf2 for 30 mins maybe an hour then it suddenly closes without showing an error message. Then when i go back on it closes the same after about 5-10 mins of play. I have recently installed the game and also updated to the latest patch v1.41.
My specs. Core 2 duo. 2.4ghz nvidia 7600gt 2gb ram windows Xp sp3. |

Re: Bf2 constantly closes without an error
Hi Turvs. Welcome to TSF.
If it is a consistent problem (which seems like it is, reading your post) then it may be a heating or weak power supply issue. Could you post: * Your system temperatures during idle and heavy use states (heavy use = when you're playing the game) * Your PSU details.

Motherboard 45 °C (113 °F) CPU 22 °C (72 °F) GPU 46 °C (115 °F) MAXTOR STM3320820AS 28 °C (82 °F) Last edited by Turvs; 06-15-2008 at 07:04 AM. |

Re: Bf2 constantly closes without an error
I think that CPU-temp is wrong, unless the air there is very cold or you have some weird cooling system. Try with this: http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/

Re: Bf2 constantly closes without an error
No problems
That was partially my fault. The voltages look ok (well, the 12V is a bit high) The CPU temp is below its maximum (shouldn't exceed 61.5). Might be worthwhile to open the case up and check the fans though and while it's open, have the look at the PSU label to check how many watts it is,make, model and amps. It should look something like this. (Credits to koala for the image) Also if possible, try swapping out the PSU with another one and see if it makes any difference.

Re: Bf2 constantly closes without an error
Ok heres the info on the PSU. I do not have another one so canot test a different one. I attempted to clean the inside inculding the fans and air holes.
Make. Win power Model: ATX-450 Max power 450W Output +12V 20A Max. +5V 40A Max. +3.3V 28A Max. -5V 0.5A Max. -12V 0.8A Max. +5V/SB 2.0A Max. I have written this exactly how it is on the side of my PSU. So i do not know what is of use to you. Thanks for all of your help so far. |

Re: Bf2 constantly closes without an error
That power supply should be sufficient.
This one's another one of those weird ones, cause the symptoms all point to overheating/low voltage issues but from what you've posted afterwards, it seems this isn't the case. Did the problem occur before you applied the patch?

Re: Bf2 constantly closes without an error
reinstalled it twice before. Still does it.
could bf2 not be suitable with Xp sp3? cos it is newer than the patch i think. Last edited by Turvs; 06-18-2008 at 02:18 AM. |

Re: Bf2 constantly closes without an error
I couldn't find anything to suggest that being the case but I did find that patch 1.4x can cause this problem. Try reinstalling it and only applying patches up to and including 1.3 to see if it fixes anything.

This could be one of the many problems being caused by SP3. You may want to try uninstalling SP3 and running Microsoft Update to download all the post SP2 updates. I have heard that Microsoft is playing it safe and is still offering updates to those who have not yet installed SP3.
Also, if you try using an older version of the game as suggested, you may not be able to play on servers using more recent versions of the game. Last edited by af3; 06-18-2008 at 10:52 AM. Reason: Rolling back game versions... |
