New computer pauses/freezes every couple of minutes

I bought a new computer for Age of Conan put it together and it worked very well...for a few days. It started pausing while in game. These pauses would last 10 seconds or so and come about every minute or so. Then I noticed that these pauses would happen while reading email, playing music and doing things not related to the game (I had thought it was server load issues at first).

My computer is as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Processor
EVGA nforce 780i SLI Motherboard
EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card - KO Edition
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB Hard Drive
OCZ SLI-Ready Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory
I am also currently on windows XP (service pack 3)

Any help would be greatly appreciated
