Re: Help picking out a gaming Card

Your Board is PCI-E x16 (1.0v).. Its the late 2007 motherboard models that use PCI-E 2.0 (but not all). However you are quite capable of running a PCI-E 2.0 card in a PCI-E 1.0 slot. Im doing it right now..
Judging by what ive heard and researched there is no performance difference between the two. There are however electrical differences.
PCI-E x 16 : 1.5v @ 90'Oms
PCI-E 2.0 : 1.1v @ 80'Oms
These are within any cards compatibility

Re: Help picking out a gaming Card

Yes you can use a 3rd Party tool like ATI tool or Riva Tuner to overclock your card.
Its what i do, buy a cheap 8800GTS (not a 8600GTS or similar) card and overclock to get the extra performance.
But when you purchase a pre-overclocked card the warranty will be included, however if you overclock the card yourself the warranty is void..

Also the links are broken..

Re: Help picking out a gaming Card

Hmm its a difficult choice as both cards are very similar. However the GTS has got more Stream processors (128) where as th GT has 112, this i a good factor to look at, the more streams a card has the more it can do at one time..
It also has a high bandwidth than the GT, whats the use of having 1GB on the GT when 512MB on the GTS can run laps around it.. It also has a higher clock rate and is infact cheaper then the GT..
So in my opinion i would go for the GTS.

The GTX card SnowmanG20 pointed out is actually slower than the GTS and more expensive. I think SnowmanG20 you need to do some research before you post random cards.. :D
