Last month I was playing madden 2004 on my Emachines W4605 Notebook that had a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Video Chipset. While I was playing it a Colored screen came up with Bars on i. Sometimes it was green, sometimes it was white ect. I Pulled the battery out of the back and turned it on again. I had the same problem over and over again! I uninstalled the game and while I was working with it, SAME PROBLEM??!!
![]() ![]() I found out my video chip was bad and I got it replaced. I read the madden 2004 read-me and It showed that my chipset hadn't been tested for the game. Did madden 2004 cause the video chip problem or what did?? Please Help.Josh |

Re: Madden NFL 2004 Problem!
The colored bars could have been caused by overheating, causing damage to the graphics chip or motherboard. 3D games put more stress on components than general 2D desktop work, generating more power and heat, so it could have been any 3D fullscreen game that pushed it over the limit.
Check your temperatures and voltages during gameplay to see how hot it gets. Do you have a cooling pad for the laptop?

No i don't. Would that keep my problem from happening again? Would playing 3D Pc games once in a while wreck it? If I elevated it above the surface a little using wood blocks or coasters would that help? Where can I find a cooling pad for my Emachines W4605? Are all cooling pads compatable with all laptops?
