CPU Usage: % Spikes No Matter What

Alright, my CPU Usage % is spiking no matter what I do. Even if the computer is idle, it'll spike. This is very annoying when I am playing Battlefield 2 or Gunbound or when I am watching a video, because it lags it up very badly, and I have almost no control over what I am doing. Loading pages on Internet Explorer takes forever too. Now, this never happened about two weeks ago, I thought it was a virus or something, so I went back to my last image, and I still had the problem.

My specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+
Motherboard: nForce-CK8S
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 6200
Sound Card: SB Live! 24-bit
RAM: 3 x 512 mb
Hard Drive(s): Seagate ST3200822A5, Maxtor 6Y080P0
CD/DVD Drive(s): SONY DVD RW DRU-500A
Power Supply:Ultra Computer Products, ATX Switching Power Supply, MODEL NO: ULT-400P
Operating System: Windows XP SP3 including all updates
Nothing is Overclocked.

Re: CPU Usage: % Spikes No Matter What

Did you check the processes tab to find out what process is using up the CPU during these spikes?
