when the FPS is under the refresh rate, the games run bad.

Hello i come from spain. i have this problem from several years ago. nobody can resolve it. I gave it out.

i find this page by chance, i want question to you.

when The FPS of the game is more than the refresh rate of the monitor, the game run smooth.

by example, i have the Vsync of the monitor in 100Hz. If the game run at more FPS than the refresh rate, it run smooth (it show 100FPS because the Vsync is on). But when the scene is more complex the FPS go down, and when appears 99FPS he starts to run bad (it seems to the eyes like 10FPS). 90,80,60,50FPS,....it run bad.

my PC:

Amd athlon XP 3000+
512mb ram ddr 333mhz (spectek)
Gigabyte 7600GS 256mb
motherboard Asus a7v8x-x

Hi, and welcome to TSF.

What games are you trying to play which have this error?

In the game settings, turn off v-sync, and see if the problem still happens. Also, you could try turning the detail settings down - you may have them higher than the computer can handle.

If none of the above help, click on "Common Game Issues" in my signature, and try all the steps listed.

Re: when the FPS is under the refresh rate, the games run bad.

thanks you for your answer.

i forgot to tell that, a few weeks after i buy the PC (about final year 2003), when i did an update of a driver, the 2D scroll in windows gain an incredible performance.

also, 2 years ago, when i went to a technical service for a problem, for casuality they did change the IDE cable between the HDD and DVD-ROM, and, magic!!, the problems dissapears (the HDD cable must be bad..)!!! but,not at all...for games that don΄t have a lot of polygons or detail textures, it run perfect, but when i run games more heavys the problem continues equal.

it happen with all the games...: Motogp3,Revolt (an old game),ratatouille, pirates of caribean demo and a lot of games than i try...

i think that the problem could be the Ram memory or the IRQ of the graphics card...

when i buy it, i put a geforce 4 ti 4200 128mb ddr (but while it arrive from the provider, they put a 3dprophet 4500 and it ran better than the Ti 4200 in allmost all the test that i try!! )

now i have a 7600GS 256mb and the problems continues, i thing that could be a problem of Nvidia with my Ram memory?? i don΄t understand yet why it show 99FPS (for example), and to the eyes, it seem like 10fps!!
