The sound engine in Crysis is STILL broken...
The game runs fine, my computer has no trouble handling it. I have a 9800 gx2...so no problems there.
5 months ago when I played the demo. The sound was fine, no problems at all. Now, the game is unplayable. The sound will start stuttering and crackling the second I load the game up every time. This bug doesn't just affect sound, it kills the frame rate also. As soon as the sound starts crackling/stuttering, the frame rate drops to about 10FPS, then back up to 35 or so, and it's constant. I've searched the internet over and over for a fix and there isn't one. The only thing i've found is that alot of people seem to fix it by using onboard sound. It seems to be a problem directly related to creative. The only thing i've changed in the last 5 months is added a new video card and updated to Vista service pack 1. Since it's a sound problem I highly doubt it has anything to do with my video card. So i'm blaming it on OpenAL and vista SP1. Unplugging the speakers doesn't even work becaues the game is technically still using it's sound engine, therefore the frame rate still drops which doesn't help me at all. And i'm not resorting to using onboard sound with ONE game when I have an $80 sound card. Can anyone help me out of this nightmare? I would like to play this game at some point.... :(

Re: The sound engine in Crysis is STILL broken...
The problem seems to be one of, if not a combo of these three things.
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Creative sound cards Then again, doesn't every PC game have issues with those 3 things lately?
