Direct X and game problem

I'm loading a game from a disk, it told me my Direct X was not up to date. I downloaded the latest version.. and when I look at dxdiag it says it's version 9.0c... which is what I needed for the game. So I tried to install the game again and I'm still getting that message... Direct X is out of date and do I want to install updates. I've already done that... the game is Abra Academy, I have several other Big Fish games on the system and they all run just fine. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance!

Try to reboot the computer and then re-try the game if it still does the same thing try checking the web site for the game and look for any FAQ's on the subject if nothing there try un-installing the game reboot and re-install the game and reboot and try again.

Thanks for the help but that didn't work. When I try to install from the disk it still tells me that DirectX is out of date and the version I have is "unknown". Is there a driver that needs updating?? This computer is not hooked to internet so does not get any updates. It's a Pentium 4 with Windows XP.
