Re: Freeze (Crash) after around 2-3hrs playing...
Sorry about the link. Try http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en or http://www.filehippo.com/download_directx/tech/
You just need to close down all programs and run the install exe, then reboot to complete.

Re: Freeze (Crash) after around 2-3hrs playing...
Your +12V is showing as only 8.5V. This could be a false reading because if it was really that low the computer would have trouble even starting. Confirm with another system monitor ( Everest, SensorsView or SpeedFan) during gameplay.
The Core/CPU temperatures of 54/68/77C mean your CPU is overheating. Replace the thermal paste with a small amount of Arctic Silver and make sure the heatsink is firmly attached and all your case fans are spinning. Your 8800GTS GPU Core temp of 55C is ok for under stress. Check in BIOS to see if you can increase the CPU and AUX4 fan speeds.

Re: Freeze (Crash) after around 2-3hrs playing...
well.. ive installed the directx9 already.... so is that telling that the HWMonitor and Abit Uguru tells false reading in CPU temps? actually ive changed the paste already with arctic silver...ive followed the guidelines from the artic silver web regarding how to apply it on quad core properly...maybe ive done a mistake
so r u suggesting that i should open the heatsink again and then clean the paste and reapply it again? ... well actually im using zalman cooler and it runs at 90% on 2700+ rpm... wow... this is really frustrating.. im afraid if i again mistakenly reapply the thermal paste...oh btw.. im using alcohol to clean the paste.. ive cleaning easily the stock zalman paste.... i dont know this artic silver 5.. is it also easy to clean it? Re: Freeze (Crash) after around 2-3hrs playing...
With such a variety of +12V readings, from 8V to 14V, your PSU could be contributing to the crashes and overheating CPU. Can you borrow a known-good 650W PSU to test in your computer? Yours might need replacing.
Any time you remove the heatsink, you must replace the thermal paste. From the Arctic Silver instructions..... Quote:

EDIT: btw.. is applying thick surface of artic silver can cause the problem? cause if im not mistaken.. my friends put slightly thick horizontal of artic silver 5 to the heatspreader.. hoping that if we put the heatsink directly, it will "splat" and covered the whole area...is this wrong n cause the heat? if so mybe we will do cleaning and reapply a thin horizontal line to it... Re: Freeze (Crash) after around 2-3hrs playing...
oh and tell you one thing.. just now i played COD4... it seems a bit lag a bit...but i can feel the lag...i think its due to the directx9 uve asked me to install..well basically ive run the 2 tests and theyve passed but now the game experience is a lag... i know its lag not due to connection cause everything was really fine but the movement was a bit slow sometimes here and there... so what should i do... any recommend directx to try... maybe the older but nice version or etc..thanx

You need to apply a tiny amount of Arctic Silver, then spread it over the CPU until you can barely see it. The purpose of this is to fill in the microscopic grooves on the CPU to allow better surface contact between the CPU and heatsink. Installing the latest DirectX won't slow down your games. Did you reboot after installing? How much free hard drive space is there, and have you defragged recently? Your last Everest screenshot shows no problems with the temperatures and voltages if it was taken during gameplay. If that was the only one you'd posted, I'd say your PSU and cooling system were working fine.

Re: Freeze (Crash) after around 2-3hrs playing...
when putting on thermal paste you want as thin a layer as possible.spread it evenly over the entire top of the cpu.what i find strange is one core of that cpu is alot hotter than the other 3 cores.what cpu cooler are you using?id inspect the cooler to see if its perfectly flat or not.if not you may need to lap it.
