Can someone explain to me what this is?

So I usually like playing tf2 in big servers (24-32 slots) and today I noticed a huge number difference in my net graph...although i'm not sure what the numbers mean.I will post a screen shot of what I'm talking about. I don't know if this is good or not, but it seems to me that this huge number difference is the cause of my lag and low fps while playing tf2 using vista. Also there are times when I get huge lag spikes my ping goes up to 150 + (usually when I'm near a lot of enemies with them shooting at me) resulting in single digit fps.I didn't have this problem with XP so why do i have it with vista?

here is a screenshot of my system specs according to dxdiag :

Using more resources, Vista is generally slower. You can try tuning down the ingame graphics and see if that helps.

Are you playing at 800x600 or did you shrink the image?

The 8600 isn't exactly a powerhouse card.

I'm running at 1152x864 the image shrank for some reason.
And yes I know it isn't but even so I know people that get more FPS than me with 7600's and whatnot...I just don't want to get 10-15 fps it's so annoying.

Re: Can someone explain to me what this is?

Well, the only other thing I can see causing trouble is that you're running Vista on a Pentium CPU. At present XP is much better for games than Vista....

Vista's new driver model disables all the aero and other 3d "eye candy" during 3d gaming, making it no different to XP in this regard.

What PSU do you have (make and model)>
