Civ IV beyond the sword trade window problem

I have been playing Civ IV for a few months now. I just got Beyond the Sword last week. I works fine, but when different civs want to trade, make peace, stop trading with others, or anything that involves that little window the portrait of the peroson doesn't appear. All i get is a see though spot with a border around it instead. Please tell me if you know answer to this problem. Thank you.

First, as always, check system requirments on the back of the game box. Make sure your system qualifies for the specs. I also had a very similar problem when playing the game Atlantis, there would be parts in the game where there were just..voids, like blackness. It ended up having to do with my OS, since it appears you have XP I don't think this would be a problem, however, what version of XP do you have, and do you update frequently?

I meet or exceed all the requirements. Home edition and yes . and mine isn't a void it's like a window (real world one) there should be a pic of a civ leader but instead there is a window thats lets me see the game still.

Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling, there may be a corrupt file.
