Confused game speed problems in unreal and Undying

another question. my laptop used to play clive barker's undying and unreal gold without problems. then I got a bsod saying something about igfxpers.sys or something similar. now they still run but the game speed is REAL screwy. it goes normal for a few seconds but then it goes so fast its like superman on meth. then it cycles between normal and superman on meth speed every second. this happened when i changed the game speed in undying. i changed it back: no effect still screwy. i reinstalled (i do this whenever standard trouble shooting doesnt work) windows: still screwy. this comp is irritating. im about to fill it with thermite. anyone got any ideas? any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

check the registry settings for the game

go to Start ---> Run, then type regedit, then HKEY_CURRENT_USER
see what is the company's name that made the game, (For exemple Epic for Unreal)
then click on Unreal, see if u can find a speed settings...

When you reinstalled Windows, did you format first or just do a repair install?

Have you tried updating your graphics driver and chipset drivers? IGFX errors relate to integrated graphics.

Did you make a note of the Stop code on the blue screen?

when i reinstall windows i always do a full format using western digital data lifeguard tools and then format again thru windows sometimes more than once my drivers are fully up to date (intel 915 gma) and no i could not make a note of the stop code when it happened. it was about 4 pages of code that scroll WAY to fast to read i just saw the driver name and thats it. could my graphics chip be dying on me? cuz whenever it tries to render opengl (card supports up to 1.4) or pixel shader (also 1.4) i get stop code again. thanks for your response.
