A question about these graphics.

Could someone tell me if this tree is supposed to look like this?

Re: A question about these graphics.

Thanks for the replies. The game runs at max settings by the way.

I wanted to know if it's normal because the edges don't look very smooth in my opinion, but I guess it's the way the game looks.

Re: A question about these graphics.

You can always try using transparency anti-aliasing.

Re: A question about these graphics.

I believe AA transparency helped, thanks. What is the difference between multisampling and supersampling though?

Re: A question about these graphics.

Multisampling is rendering the same image 2 or more times, then blending them to soften the edges. Super sampling is rendering the image at 2x the resolution and scaling it down.

Re: A question about these graphics.

Which option do you recommend?

Oh, and I have another question I wanted to ask you, if you don't mind. What are mipmaps?

Re: A question about these graphics.

I run the game at 1680x1050 on my PC and on my girlfriend's PC we run it at 1920x1080 on my HDTV. No need for Anti-Aliasing on either. If your system can handle it and you're restricted to resolutions lower than 1280x1024, then 2x super-sampling may help.

Mip mapping is the process of taking textures for far-off objects and scaling them so that when you get closer the detail is smoother as you get closer. otherwise it'd look really fuzzy and really sharp with definite beginnings and ends. I tend to leave mip-mapping on as it's virtually an invisible hit on performance.

Re: A question about these graphics.

I run the game at 1680x1050 and have seen a difference when supersampling is enabled. It reduced the vibration/aliasing effect that happens when the game is in motion, though it's still somewhat noticeable.

Thank you for your support and if there's anything you think that might make the game look better, please inform me. I have a similar issue when playing Crysis by the way, which is more bothering.
