Hi, I'm trying to install The Sims 2 on my computer, when it gets to disk 2 though it says there was a problem installing sfx2.package. I checked out the disk and it has a big scratch on it. I found the file online and downloaded it, I put it in the correct folder once the installer created the folder, however the installer overwrites it with the corrupt version and again tells me it can't install.
Does anyone know a way for me to maybe tell the installer I have the file from a different source? Or to have it just bypass the file until the end of the installation so I can manually put the updated file there. So overall here is the problem: 1. Tried to install Sims 2 2. sfx2.package file on disk 2 is corrupt 3. Downloaded alternative version of sfx2.package 4. Put downloaded sfx2.package in the place it should be 5. Installer overwrites downloaded sfx2.package with corrupt sfx2.package, and pops up with an error window saying it cannot install that file. What I need: 1. An alternative way of installing the file or 2. A way of bypassing the file or 3. Any other ideas |
