[SOLVED] Crashing Problem

Ok i just upgraded my pc from an AMD athlon xp 2000+ (with an unknown winfast motherboard) to a intel core 2 quad on an asus p5vdc-mx v2.0 (no overclocking for me ) my current specs now are, core 2 quad q6600 asus p5vdc-mx v2.0 agp nvidia geforce 7600gs 512mb dedicated ram, 3 ide interface hard drives (with a 7 partitions total) lg dvd dl rewriter a pci usb-firewire controller with 2 external usb ports and one firewire external port 500 w power supply, 20 pin with 24 pin converter, windows xp (i don't like vista anymore) and 1gb ddr 1 ram (the motherboard runs ddr 1 and 2) and whenever i play a game Say call of duty 4 it crashes at random points as in whole system freeze sometimes it just restarts other times it just stays there, not even a sound loop so i either have to turn it off or restart, at the moment im thinking its my ram since its ddr 1 and the core 2 quad is made for ddr2 and 3. just a thought. Please help me! also i got a 2720 3DMarks in 3dmark 06

Re: Crashing Problem

Have you re-installed XP since the hardware change? Chaning the M/B and CPU without re-formatting can make the OS very unstable.

Re: Crashing Problem

ok i was to lazy to run the program, but anyway i figured out it was cooling for the restarting, so i added little more ventilation unclocked the case fans etc etc (btw i also took one side off and have a fan blowing into it on full power, on the protected side so no foreign materials will enter the process) and the restarting was the ram i've determinded from tests that were not memtest they took much much less time (i ran it for about five minute made an average on how long it would take etc etc) canceled it, booted as normally and ordered some ddr II 533 1gb non ecc ram to replace my old stinky 200 speed, 2 512mb sticks of ddr 1 ram, judging by the current prices probley worth a small fortune hehe anyway, my support was great, i tryed to be as clear as possible for the support, and i will defiantly refer to these forums for future support and will run memtester when needed. Thanks! :-) (im now gonna pwn some n00bs in cod4)

Re: Crashing Problem

Get some more fans in the case if you can. make sure all fans at the front and sides are sucking in air, and the back are expelling it. Clear out all duct and make sure cables are tied back to ensure a nice air flow.

Also All diagnostic tests like memory test dont work properly if you only run them for 5mins, the standard memtest runs for 30min and a full test can take 8hrs.
