Call of duty 4 crashes

Hello,
I am ... at least i was a happy COD4 owner for an hour. Installation went smoothly and I was ready to "show 'em hell" but when i tried to run it black screen poped-up for about 3/4 of screen and I get ordinary Windows error.
Then when i try to run it again I get question about safe mode ( yes / no) - doesn't matter what I would choose i always get the same result as mentioned above.
In multiplpayer I pass through activision video to profile creator but then it cashes in the same way as single player.

Here is the list of things I've already tried :

- patch it 1.3, 1.4, 1.5
- to change name of file in miles folder ( extension to *.bak) or even remove it from there.
- new direct x
- newest video drivers
- newest AC 4.03 sound drivers
- turning the sound acceleration to low in dxdiag
- put the mic in.
so far no results... any ideas ?

my conf :
AMD Athlon 4800+ X2
4 GB GEIL ram
9600 gt 512 ram Palit Sonic
motherboard ASUS M2N

hopefully someone knows the answer :/ because I run out of ideas.

Re: Call of duty 4 crashes

Hmm it seems you have an amd cpu
you might need the dual core optimiser. Download
its a little tool that optimises windows and your processor and stuff for gaming it can solve many game start issues and crash issues, for example with most amd dual cores bioshock needs it otherwise it wont start (it comes with it) i was going to get one but i got offered a intel quad, what can i say?
anyway, just try it. it wont hurt anything its made by amd themselves so its nothing as dangerous another thing could be (doubt it though, most times it powers on fans and stuff and thats all) your maxing out your power supply and the video card isnt getting enough, doubt it but, could be rare case though.

Re: Call of duty 4 crashes

You need to upgrade your psu. If this http://www.chieftec.eu/index.php?opt...107&Itemid=305 is your psu then it has 2 x 12V rails at 14A and 15A respectively. The first 12V rail is dedicated to the CPU leaving only 15A for the rest of your system. The 9600 requires 26A. You can look at the PSU Selection link in my sig to help you choose an appropriate PSU, i would suggest the Corsair HX520W.

Re: Call of duty 4 crashes

Hi...I have an similar problem with my COD4. Every time I start the game it works fine but when I have played about 10-15 black screen pops up and I have to reboot my computer. I have patched the game to 1.5 and I checked in system requirements lab that my system should run this game. All though I didn't get to the recommended level but still it was passed. So...any suggestions?

Hi mate,

IN A NEW THREAD, please download PC Wizard and install (from my sig). Then go to FILE, SAVE AS and click OK. Then save the text file and copy its contents into the new thread.

Also state what PSU make and model you have, and PM me when you have done this with the link. Cheers
