Still getting the BSOD...
Okay, so it's not a specific thread title, but bare with me here for a minute...
The original thread started over here: PSU Over heating... ... Where I thought the problem with the BSOD had to do with my power supply over heating because it was reading 125C. So I went out and picked up a new high quality one (OCZ), and the temp readings were exactly the same, which obviously means that the PSU is not in fact over heating... Another mod also told me that the Pentium board can misread that temp so I started looking for other causes for this problem, which is why I decided to continue my thread over here... So long story short, everytime I play a higher end video game (Crysis, Quake 4, Medeival 2, even Guitar Hero), or I load up a high quality DivX movie (it's hit or miss with the movies though), I get the IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL error, with no file names or DLL attached to it (attached pic)... It usually happens as soon as the game intro graphics kick in. I realized that it has to do with video or maybe even sound issues, so the first thing I did was update the video card drivers for my GeForce 8600 GT from the Asus site, that didn't fix it... Then I updated my sound card drivers (on board) from the same site, and that didn't fix it either... I also did a MemTest and everything looks fine... What should my next step be guys?? I appreciate the help... PS for some reason it won't let me re-upload my BSOD, so please refer to my link up top to see it... Last edited by LyRiKaL; 03-13-2008 at 02:05 PM. |

Re: Still getting the BSOD...
Run some application that normally crashes your computer but do it with sounds disabled - just to eliminate sound card drivers from the list. Better yet disable the sound chip altogether for a while (then you might have problems starting games etc tho).

Re: Still getting the BSOD...
If you meant roll back the video drivers, I've tried a few different updates in attempt to problem solve it, so I don't know which one it would be... But if you meant roll back as in system restore when the BSOD started, that was one of the first things I did, never made any changes...

Re: Still getting the BSOD...
I'm taking a shot in the dark here... But seeing as how it's obviously some sort of IRQ problem, assuming that IRQL is the same thing, would this screen shot mean anything at all?

Re: Still getting the BSOD...
I've been into computers since the 286 with 16 MhZ, 640 kb base memory and 40 meg HD days... Always had a custom built computer, never owned a Dell or HP PC... Is there a problem that comes wit custom built computers?

Re: Still getting the BSOD...
I'm using AVG Free Edition 7.5.519... I did use Avast before that, but then when I went to use the Panda scanner recommended on this site, it was calling Avast a virus, and Avast was doing the same with Panda lol... So that was sketchy all together.

Re: Still getting the BSOD...
Attempting a bump here... I uploaded my PC Wizard results in the post above this one, so if anyone knows what could be wrong in there, that would be cool... There's also a pic of my IRQs in PC Wizard somewhere above, which I think it must have something to do with...
I also realize that after more research, it has something to do with either hardware or driver conflicts, is there a way to narrow it down more to know which one it is?... And one more thing, is it weird that the Device Manager IRQs and the PC Wizard IRQs don't match in the specs?... Thnx guys, almost there. |

Re: Still getting the BSOD...
Is it possible that your CPU is undervolted? It says 1.2, whereas my E6300 defaults at 1.3. bump it up to 1.4 (which is safe). see if that helps with stability. Are you overclocking anything? Your ram is only in single channel btw.
