3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
Ok, best guess at what 3DMark07 will contain, racing cars, space, etc...
ps, its Vista and DX10 only, so you XP boys will have to upgrade now that falling leaf has finally died. Who wants to look into the crystal ball and make a suggestion on what we will see? PLUS: State your current 3DMark06 score and what you think your 07 score will be! I'm excited! ![]() I will start: I reckon we will see aviation themes, almost like MS Flight SimX stuff, would be cool! I get just over 13K in 3DMark06, but i reckon about 9K in 3DMark07

No, the point is that Futuremark will be screwed by this.

Re: 3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
No, I don’t think so, what is the point of having yet ANOTHER dx9 bench? None. Futuremark doesn't make whimsical decisions, they do market research and realise that dx10 is where the money is in terms of gpus and eventually os. I think it’s a bold but smart decision. Forget vista, it’s not about vista.

Re: 3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
Without Vista we can't run DirectX 10 applications, though.

Re: 3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
Not entirely true. Falling Leaf was working on it http://www.technospot.net/blogs/down...-alky-project/, and microsoft has admitted it is not technically off limits to XP. But with windows 7 coming out in 1 - 2 years, dx10 is here to stay. You are right though, however, sooner or later you too will have to upgrade to dx10, suprised you haven't already mate? lol
EDIT: removed rapidshare link to DX10 for XP. No way of knowing if the file is legit.

Re: 3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
I had Vista for a while but really didn't like it much. All of my hardware can run it but not all of my software will work.

Re: 3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
Looking foreward to trying the new 3d mark but here is my current score on 3dmark06 on default settings:
16268 3dmarks I cant tell for sure but id say around 10k in the new 3d mark. Up to now not had any trouble with vista but all the nannying features are a bit annoying when you know how to use a computer (user account control and the nagging when you turn it off im looking at you) .

Re: 3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
Hehe the fans are rather quiet considering the amount of them, sorta makes a small humm, cant really hear it over the FPS games i like^^. Been liking this forum so far, kinda hard to find a tech forum where people use plain english:).
Ive seen a screenie on 3D marks site, looks like it will be spaceships and stars and stuff. I expect an alien planet landscape too in it, that will be cool:). |

Re: 3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
yeh seen that too, but also seen some aviation stuff (hoping!)
this forum is really good, becuase its polite, accurate and professional. It also gives you the opportunity to move through the 'ranks' (so to speak), and become part of the tech team. I have no influence in these matters, but good advice, regular postings etc make it possible to become part of this forum in a more rewarding way. Anyway, nice system mate, must have cost a packet!

Re: 3DMark07 "Vantage" Speculation
Thanks for the compliments on the system mate, been saving up for a long time for a new computer, was thinking, by the time ive saved up for a computer, something better will be out that what i want this time
.I hope i can help people on here as much as i can, seen quite a few nasty PC problems people have and wanna help fix them, havent seen half the errors before people have said about in 12 years of using computers, although i have seen a PSU explode (literally!) before (dont ask but was involving a leaky shed roof and a computer ).Your system looks nice too btw looking at the specs .
