atari scrabble complete

I've played this game for several months and all of a sudden it started crashing. The whole computer cuts out. The computer is an HP pavillion slimline. Nothing seems to be wrong with software as I played it elseware. HP help didn't solve the problem. The game is not suppported by Atari any longer. Help!

Tish-

Weird, I am having similar behavior. I never did any tracking to verify my answer, but I seem to be thinking that a Micro$oft update killed several of my programs. Scrabble being one of them.

I un-installed and re-installed the program and it did the same thing, so I have no answers for you, just a fellow Scrabble lover feeling your pain.

Re: atari scrabble complete

Thanks. I believed that the update was responsible because it was the same time frame, but don't know enough about computers to have faith in my own beliefs! Will post if I find any solution.

Re: atari scrabble complete

I found a site that does offer some insight on how to fix a couple of problems with workarounds.

http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448345

I might have to find and re-install my Scrabble this weekend and see if I can get it to work with any of these tips.

Looks like the error was different from what we are getting at the beginning of the article, but by the later middle, there is a couple of people with the similar kind of error. Unfortunately, only the Norton anti-virus seems to be the fix for that, unless the compatibility settings make any difference.

Anywho, good luck and please let me/us know if ya get it working. If I can get it working I'll give a reply too.

Re: atari scrabble complete

Possibly found my problem! Removed the cover and (carefully) vacuumed the fan, and scrabble has been working fine since. Slimline is really small and probably builds up heat. Found the suggestion on HP help for crashes.

Re: atari scrabble complete

Glad to hear you got your game back up and running.

Simple overheating it sounds like. Hmmm....maybe I better do some dust bunny collection this weekend on my puter.

Anyway, grats Tish!
