Re: KOTOR problem
Hi,
Please click on "Common Game Issues" in my signature, and run through all the steps there. A reinstallation may fix this. Just to double-check, you are using Windows XP? Do you get the problem anywhere other than near the gate on Tatooine? It seemed to happen at the same place every time, which indicates to me a buggy installation... Let us know how you go with those steps.

Re: KOTOR problem
Wierd. What happens if you make a save game when everyone turns black, quit out then load that save? Is it still black or back to normal?
Thanks for making the video btw, if everybody did that sort of thing it would make fixing things lots easier ;) |

Re: KOTOR problem
Very odd. I'd try Indorils' suggestions first, if you haven't already go through the 'Common Game Issues' thread (Some won't apply to you but it's best to check anyway).
After that, download Everest. It seems to be a time based problem so Everest will check the temps and voltages of your computer to make sure nothing is wrong there. Just take a screenshot of the temps and volts Everest reports when your computer is idle. Then take another after about 30 mins of play. Post those shots back here so we can check them. |

Re: KOTOR problem
I realize this is a very old thread, but I recently had this same issue. This is NOT a frame rate issue. The problem is that KotoR is not properly coded to execute on a dual-core cpu.
After the game launches, once you're at the main menu, tab out to the desktop and set the processor affinity for swkotor.exe to only one core (instead of both). If that makes no sense, to do this: bring up the task manager, go to the process list and look for swkotor.exe, right click on it, and click 'set affinity'. Remove a checkmark from one of the cores listed. The problem is, you have to do this EVERY TIME. It's a pain in the butt; however, it DOES work. |
