.tmp file being deleted
I am trying to install a game (cabal online), and when I run the installer it opens the setup window for anywhere from 1-5 seconds before closing regardless of how far I get. (I've gotten ~50MB installed once when I was quick)
I've tracked down the problem (I think) to one of the two files it creates in my 'C:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temp' directory. Both are in folders named 'is-xxxxx.tmp' (x's being random numbers and letters), one folder contains a '_shfoldr.dll', which remains intact even after the setup closes, the other contains a 'is-xxxxx.tmp' file, which shows up on my process list after running the setup. This file (and the folder it was in) appear to get deleted when it closes, whether this is because it closed, or is the cause of the close, I don't know. I'm just wondering if there is anything other than the setup/the .tmp file itself that could be causing it to be deleted like that, or if you guys had any ideas for stopping the problem. I have already made sure that windows antivirus was off, and I turned comodo antivirus off to test once, which didn't help. I have also re-downloaded the file once. (downloading it once again from a different mirror this time) Last edited by Ryau; 02-03-2008 at 10:37 AM. |
