Re: Unreal Tournament 3 Problem Stretching Textures
Hi, welcome to TSF
Please post your full system specs, the details from the PSU label (make/model, total watts, amps for +12V), and your graphics driver version. Run SensorsView or SpeedFan at startup with no other programs running and note the temperatures and PSU voltages. Then run UT3. When you see the artifacts start to appear, leave the game running, Alt-Tab back to the desktop and note the temps/volts again. Post back with both sets of figures.

Re: Unreal Tournament 3 Problem Stretching Textures
When you installed the latest driver, did you uninstall the old one first?
What does it say on the PSU label for +12V? Have you got the SensorsView temps/volts readings?

Re: Unreal Tournament 3 Problem Stretching Textures
You have what you call "Artifacts". This happens when your video card is dying. You need to lower the clock speed on your video card. Try not to use Ntune, it tends to bridge your video card. A good program I saw was "Ati Tools" which is good.

Re: Unreal Tournament 3 Problem Stretching Textures
Your graphics card is overheating. If you can post the 'before' and 'during' (not 'after') values for the PSU voltages then we can see if the PSU has a weak +12V line which could cause the card to overheat.
Nvidia says the 7900GS needs a PSU with at least 22 amps on the +12V line, and they recommend a minimum total wattage of 350W, preferably over 400W. PSUs are typically only 70-85% efficient and their power output decreases over time, so with yours being only 375W with 18a/+12V, it's really being pushed to the limits by your 7900GS. Run the stress tests in the ATI Tray Tools overclocking section to see at what point the artifacts start to appear in the box, then drop the clock speeds to below standard and see if that has any effect. Lowering the clock speed while gaming might help a bit, but you shouldn't have to resort to underclocking when the card should be able to run at standard speeds without overheating and causing artifacts. We need to find the cause rather than paper over the cracks. Clean out any dust with a can of compressed air, and make sure all the fans are spinning. Do you have front and rear case fans, and is there a clear airflow path?

Re: Unreal Tournament 3 Problem Stretching Textures
Sorry, my mistake. ATI Tray Tools is for ATI cards only. The equivalent program for Nvidia cards is RivaTuner (which also supports ATI). Download from here to see if underclocking helps. Using either ATI Tray Tools or RivaTuner or any other similar app for your problem probably won't fix the underlying cause though. From the symptoms you describe, the textures, high temperatures and 375W PSU, it looks like the 7900GS is being underpowered, leading to heat and artifacts. The 'before' and 'during' +12V readings from SensorsView would be helpful at this point. If it was my computer, I'd stick a good quality 550W PSU in to test.

Re: Unreal Tournament 3 Problem Stretching Textures
I have downloaded Rivatuner but im not sure how to use it.
And for the PSU, how much it costs a550w one?. Yeah, i have both fans and they work perfectly, the pc is above my desktop with his behind facing a wall. |
