BF1942 Hangs the Computer!
I have recently assembled a new machine and thought everything was running great, then I tried to play Battlefield 1942. The game loads fine and starts off with no problem but hangs after a few moments of play. Sometimes I can end the game with the task mgr. and sometimes I have to reboot the machine. All the event log tells me is that BF1942 hung. This is the only problem I've had with this build and I can't seem to resolve it. I've eliminated possible IRQ conflicts, made sure I don't have overheating problems, loaded all the game patches, changed the advanced settings on my video card and even tried another card (from my old machine that runs the game well!) all to no avail. Just wondered if anyone could give me a new direction to try to make it work. Thanks for reading my rambling and any help that may be offered! My Machine consists of:ECS NFORCE4M-A (V3.0) motherboard, AMD Athlon X2 5600+, 4gb G Skill PC6400, 2-80gb Raptors, 1-160gb sata150, Asus GeForce 8500GT, Soundblaster Audigy, Corsair VX550 power supply in a Coolermaster 534 Centurion case. I run Windows XP SP2. Thanks again.
