Freezing problems with Unreal Tournament 3
I bought UT 3 yesterday, and I loaded it onto my computer... It was running fine until about halfway through the first cinematic, and it froze up...
I restarted my computer and tried again... This time, I got to the second cinematic, and it froze.... Finally, I got fed up, skipped both cinematic... Played the game on the lowest graphics settings (which looks atrocious, by the way, if that wasn't already a given.) After the first round, there was another cinematic. Froze up about 1/8th of the way through, I'll assume. I also made another discovery... I can put the graphics on the highest settings, and they still look the same as if they were on the lowest graphics setting... Not only that, but when I play instant action, it actually slows down when I have it at a lower setting. I am running windows XP home edition, and I am using a GeForce 6600 GT graphics card, AMD Athalon 64 processor, and DirectX 9.0c |

Re: Freezing problems with Unreal Tournament 3
Hi, welcome to TSF
When it freezes, does the game crash back to the desktop or show an error message. Or does it stop completely, not accepting any input from keyboard and mouse? What make/model is your PSU, and how many amps are on the +12V line? How much RAM do you have? Have you installed the latest DirectX 9.0c? Run the 2 tests in Start > Run > dxdiag > Display tab. Any problems listed in the Notes box? Do you have similar problems with any other games? Run SensorsView or SpeedFan at startup and note the temperatures and PSU voltages. If you can get any 3D fullscreen game to run for more than a few minutes, leave the game running, Alt-Tab back to the desktop and note the temps/volts again. Post back with both sets of figures so we can compare how your system copes at idle and under stress.

Re: Freezing problems with Unreal Tournament 3
I have same problem. The game runs fine but if i watch cinematics, game freeze. There is no error message, only the sound repeat itself. But if I skip the movies game runs fine.
I have eurocase PSU (400w) with 25a on +12v line. AMD 64 proc (on 754 sckt) chipset nforce 3, 1.5 gb ram and ati x1950gt graphic card DirectX i have of course 9.0c. This problem I have only with this game. .. Thanx Last edited by Sov2T; 02-08-2008 at 04:14 PM. |

Re: Freezing problems with Unreal Tournament 3
I'm having kind of the same problem.
I can play the games and watch the cinematic just fine. But....On the loading screen 80% of the time the loading screen will just go blank. No response from my keyboard or Mouse. I'm running windows XP 8500 Nvidia Geforce GT Direct x9 2 gigs of ram intel pentium D CPU 3.4GHz processor (2CPUs) Never had this problem with any other game before... I tried turning the settings down but that didn't help at all... Also I have to restart my computer each time this happens. I cant bring up the task manager to minimize. |
