counterstrike source crashing new computer

System specs:
Custom built:
Quad core 2.4
4 gb ram Patriot ddr2
nvidia 8800 gts ko 640 mb
asus p5k ws socket 775 ddr2 1033/1066
No sound card
600 Watt ps

Have tried everything!!!!! CSS crashes soon after I start playing as do some other games. Have updated all drivers including Realtek audio which seems to have been causing some conflicts. Deleted sound from bios-still didn't work. Took it to a supossed!!! computer gaming repair shop in Tempe and $200 dollars later still crashes. The person that built it for me lives in CA and was not able to solve the problem either. We have reinstalled, reformatted, etc- no luck. It is driving me crazy and I do not want to waste anymore money on an already expensive maching. Not sure what can be causing the crash. I have played CSS for several years and have also adjusted all the settings in game such as anti-aliasing etc. Please any smart computer gaming person - HELP!!!!!!!

Re: counterstrike source crashing new computer

Thanks for responding....The PS is OCZ 600 watt. I will try your suggestions this weekend. One more question...it seems that the problem might be the onboard sound realtek when the microphone/headphones are plugged into the jack. Do you think that simply deleting the onboard sound and adding a new sound card might make it stop crashing????? Thanks Josh

Re: counterstrike source crashing new computer

Realtek has been giving me some problems with Mic and headphones. If you have a mic jack on the front and the back of your case use the back jack. Then go into the realtek control panel and disable the front jack. (seems to solve most problems)
But getting a sound card is way better then the standard on-board. Like crisper sound, and minimal or no CPU usage.

Re: counterstrike source crashing new computer

I would recommend getting a cheap sound card this is the one I use

Creative Audigy SE
$33

I think OCZ PSU's are ok so thats not it

try updating your Directx 9

what driver version for the graphic card driver are you using?

download coretemp to see the CPU's temperatures.
http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

download GPU-Z to see the graphic card temp
http://www.filehippo.com/download_gpuz/

whats your screen refresh rate?
60hz? 75hz?
