Wing Commander Prophecy: Thinks There's Not Enough Drive Space

Hey all,

I decided to crack open the vault and play some old games. One of them was Wing Commander Prophecy, and I've read that it has really good Vista support... which is good, because it wouldn't even start in XP.

However, since it is from yesteryear, I'm having an installation problem.

I have a 250gb HDD so I most def have enough space for the intallation (it only takes like 400 megs). I think the game isn't capable of telling how much space I actually have though, because the installer's telling me:

Drive: C:\
Bytes Free: 341,012,480
Bytes Required: 406,719,591
Please choose another drive or free more space.

Yeah, well, my C:\ drive has over 150 gigs free. Since such hard drives didn't exist in 1997, I think it just doesn't know how to read it, and so it wraps back around after 50-100 gigs or so. Can anyone offer me some help?

Re: Wing Commander Prophecy: Not Enough Drive Space

You could create a small partition to install the game into. If this doesn't fix it, then drive size is not the issue and we can look at some other options.

Re: Wing Commander Prophecy: Not Enough Drive Space

Alright, I found a workaround without repartitioning. The silliest thing, actually. I did what the program told me to do. =-) I just deleted some stuff until the incorrectly reported space rose above the requirements... man, that was simple. Sorry to bother you and thanks for the advice! I'll post shortly after I see if the game runs correctly after installation.
