Cry [SOLVED] UT3 problems

I tried a few different options, the first time I tried running it it said I didn't reach min specs, then my asian friend dld some new thing from nvidia or whatever now it doesn't say that anymore, but yeah when I get into the game it loads fine I go to campaign if I don't super click fast it'll crash the game by freezing up during the intro but when I get into the actual game it runs pretty smooth the only real problem is that the graphics for guns and people keep turning invisible and back repeatedly making playing impossible i used to have that problem with fable too don't remember how I fixed it though but yeah help please.

Re: UT3 problems

Hi, welcome to TSF

Please post your full system specs and driver versions. See here for details.

If the intro is a video, then it could be a codec problem or the video file could be missing. Is it a backup copy or the original CD?

Re: UT3 problems

reinstalled downloaded a patch the graphics problem is gone intro in campaign still freezes up tried instant match with bots but it crashed, got into campaign though and it ran ok it seems to run slower though but I can deal with that I guess as long as I can play

EDIT: all the movies in the campaign apparently cause it to crash

Re: UT3 problems

Click the link in my last reply and download Everest. It will tell you everything about your computer.

Can you find out what your friend did to make your system reach the minimum specs for the game?

Open Windows Explorer and go to the Unreal folder where the game is installed. How many files are there in the Movies folder and what's the total size?

Your computer is WAY too weak for this game. There is no way your computer will be able to play it all without updating your computer.

Sorry, if there is anything else I can do for you...let me know.

It's not running slow though, it's just things keep going transparent and disappearing.

My System

Re: UT3 problems

In your first post you say your system doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for the game, then your friend downloaded something from nvidia to fix it. Try this again.

I can play UT3 on a dual-core CPU with 2gb RAM and an X1950 graphics card, and I still get some moments of slowdown, especially at the start of levels when the textures are loading. I can only imagine how slow it would be with a Sempron and GeForce 6100.

Are you still using the backup copy or have you reinstalled from the original CD? In post #5 you say all movies cause the game to crash. That's why I asked what the total size was in the Movies folder. If you're using a 'backup' or downloaded copy, then quite often the video files are 0kb filenames with no content.
