ics and steam

Hi,

Just a quick question, does anyone know a way to get steam working with ics(intenet connection sharing). I know valve says that steam doesnt support ics but does anybody know a trick to get it working or somwthing

I got the orange box at christmas and i still havent been able to play it because of this problem, so any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Re: ics and steam

Are you looking to just play the single player games?

If so you could always use Steam in offline mode.

Re: ics and steam

Thanks for the reply

But i cant even install the game because it needs to connect to the steam servers during the install, and because i use ics it cant connect!

Re: ics and steam

Hmm... That is true. Is there anyway you could use another form of connection just to get the installation complete? If you can get it installed then you could run steam in offline mode.

Re: ics and steam

Here's a long shot. You got a friend with something other than an ICS connection? Just take your desktop there and do it could work.

Just buy the lad a drink afterwards! :D

Re: ics and steam

Sometimes I dislike the steam idea. For instance, your situation. And since you can buy the steam games in stores like Walmart/etc people don't always know the person who is going to play it needs the internet.

Ugh!

Re: ics and steam

Yeh tell me about it!

After spending my hard earned cash on a game, bringing it home and then finding out i dont have the right kind of internet connection to play the bloddy thing is pretty infuriating!! (and all i want to play is single player!!!!)

Get a router?

ICS is one of the most evil things in the world of computing.
