Mouse flickering only on games

I recently downloaded Tiger Woods 2007 from EA Sports. Had touble making it run. Made some adjustments & now my mouse flickers & disappears on any game I have, not only that game. Otherwise my mouse works fine. I have Windows XP Service pack 2. Dell Dimension 4550

That usually happens because a game is trying to hide the mouse and a program running on top of the game is causing it to be displayed, and together they make it flicker. It sometimes happens to me when a game will freeze and I have to use task manager to close it. Anyway, it would help if we knew what adjustments you made.

I lowered the refresh rate, that didn't help, put it back up. I changed the acceleration setting, no luck. I changed the screen resolution from 1024 to 800 & back again. I changed the color quality from 32 bit to 8 bit , no luck,turned it back. I even tryed system restore, & screwed that up. No matter what game I try to run, either one downloaded or one with a CD, it still flickers & disappears.
